  • Center for Entrepreneurial Development
    The Center for Entrepreneurial Development, a department of the Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA), offers comprehensive "across-the-board" small business services including start-up assistance, business expansions and turn-around services for struggling businesses. Our adjunct faculty consists primarily of current and past small business owners - all experts in their individual fields.
  • Layoff-Related Services for Downsizing and Closings
    The US Department of Labor and state workforce investment system partners offer many services to help workers and employers deal with the effects of layoffs and plant closures.
  • O*NET OnLine
    O*NET, the Occupational Information Network, is a comprehensive database of worker attributes and job characteristics and the nation's primary source of occupational information. The database contains information about knowledges, skills, abilities, interests, general work activities, and work context. O*NET also links related occupational, educational, and labor market information databases to the system.
  • Retention Strategies: A Guide to Finding and Keeping Top Performers
    This document, produced by DBA's Workforce Services division, is a compilation of advice on how to Hire and Keep Top Performers.
  • Richmond 2007 Workforce Services Directory
    This 120 page publication of the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce lists and describes all services and service providers in the region.
  • Society for Human Resource Management
    Member organization that provides resources on how to manage your employees, and get information on workplace trends.
  • Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services
    In partnership with people with disabilities and their families, the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services collaborates with the public and private sectors to provide and advocate for the highest quality services that empower individuals with disabilities to maximize their employment, independence and full inclusion into society.
  • Virginia Economic Bridge
    Virginia Economic Bridge, Inc. is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization focused on creating an environment for economic development in today's technologically advanced society. The programs and services used to produce the desired results are a combination of components currently in place: Virginia Procurement Pipeline, Entrepreneurship Award, Linked Workforce, Regional GIS Telecommunication Infrastructure Mapping Project, Community Audit, and the Western and Southwestern Virginia Public Education Consortiums.
  • Virginia Employment Commission
    The Virginia Employment Commission provides workforce services for employers and job seekers, including free job postings, employment assistance, unemployment insurance, and high quality economic, demographic, and occupational information for making important business decisions.
  • Virginia Jobs Investment Program
    Virginia Jobs Investment Program of the Virginia Department of Business Assistance provides customized recruiting and training services to companies that are creating new jobs or experiencing technological change. As a business development incentive supporting economic development efforts throughout Virginia, the program reduces the human resource development costs of new and expanding companies throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.   • Virginia Workforce Centers
    Virginia Workforce Centers (or One Stop Centers) provide access to workforce, employment and training services of various programs and partner organizations. Most VEC locations have been designated as Virginia Workforce Centers, and VEC services are provided through many centers operated by other partner organizations and contractors.
  • Virginia Workforce Council
    Created by the 1999 Virginia General Assembly, the VWC was established to assist the Governor in meeting workforce training needs in the Commonwealth. The VWC is charged with: serving as the State Board for the federal Workforce Investment Act; overseeing workforce training for the Virginia Community College System, including workforce training centers; and oversight of specific incumbent worker training programs assigned by state statute.
  • Virginia Workforce Network
    Virginia Workforce Network is the brand name for Virginia’s system of one-stop career centers known as Virginia Workforce Centers, and other activities related to the Workforce Investment Act.
  • Virginia's A.L. Philpott Manufacturing Extension Partnership (VPMEP)
    VPMEP provides assistance to Virginia's manufacturers in the following areas: marketing & strategic planning, information technology & e-business, manufacturing systems, quality management systems, and organizational effectiveness & workforce development.
  • Workforce Investment Boards
    Responsible for establishment and continued operation of Virginia Workforce Centers in each of the seventeen Workforce Investment Areas of the Commonwealth. Workforce Investment Boards provide a forum to assure that workforce training and employment initiatives meet the economic development and business needs of each local area.

  • Workforce Toolkit
    Developed by the the U.S. Department of Labor, this toolkit provides a comprehensive guide to services available for developing your workforce through America's Workforce Network at little or no cost.
